Mad Woman Kat Savage Books
Guess who word nerds? Yep two in one day and you know why? Because Kat Savage is a freaking magical unicorn and everyone needs to know that. Tonight I got home from work and wanted poetry in my life and Mad Woman has a beautiful cover that has been waiting for me to read its insides. If you relate to any of this, you're mad too. And that's amazing. This is for all the mad women. Don't change a damn thing. You are important to me.
Thank you for reading.
That is just a taste of the dedication page. I was already freaking out when I read that page. It only got better from there. It seriously only got better from there.
Kat poured out her heart and yet again shared pieces of herself with us. I cried. Yep. That's right. Kat freaking Savage made me cry. Quiet tears down my face because I could her words in my heart. She ripped me open and made my heart bleed.
And this is me
blaming the univers
for my flaws,
for my loneliness,
and for
my inability
to stand still
long enough
to be vulnerable.
One thing I have always appreciated about Kat is how open she is with things that matter to her. She shares pieces of herself everyday and she does it open and honestly. That doesn't even include her amazing poetry that reached out and touches your heart. Which I probably said but I feel like I don't have pretty enough words to stress how much her words mean.
Sometimes the Boogyman is a little girl
Poetry is one of my favorite genres because I feel like it is just a person pouring out their insides and showing the world and to me that is so brave and perfect. Kat definitely delivers 5 star worthy poetry and if you haven't read her work yet please do!! Even if you just start out on instagram!!

Mad Woman Kat Savage Books Reviews
Kat Savage does it again and again with amazing words written with the hand of inspiration. She is a writer's writer and lights up the heart of anyone eager for beautiful words whether from pain or passion.
Kat Savage's words are just filled with so many raw emotions. The words in this book are filled with something empowering. You can feel hurt and vulnerability but also a sense of power. Definitely a must read!
i'm just beyond speechless. the writing was perfection and i felt like i was reading poems about myself. such raw and emotional words. loved it and i need to read more by this author!
I understand this is Savage's second release of poetry. I've read both books. This one is light years ahead of its predecessor in style, feel, formatting, editing, everything. The cover is beautiful as well as the images within the pages. I see why people would buy this just based on cover alone - it's enticing. This is Savage's first go at self-publishing. Wow. I am beyond impressed. Her writing is always superb, but in such succinct and flawless packaging, it shines even more. A short but deep read. I highly recommend.
I really loved and appreciate this little collection so, as Kat said in the intro, I must be a little bit of a mad woman too. It’s a great little collection on the struggle and different dynamics of coming into yourself and coming of age in our modern culture. The thoughts are spiralling at times but the story doesn’t lose its conciseness, it’s a work of art but it’s not necessarily clean. I thought I was the only one who reads, writes and told stories in that fashion before reading this. I quite liked this collection.
I took my time reading this, even though it’s a short book, because almost every poem struck a chord for me. Maybe this is all made up, or metaphorical, or something else that isn’t quite literal, but I came away from reading this feeling like I know Kat Savage, or at least know parts of her, and I think it’s obvious that these were very personal, raw but beautiful, poems.
Reading Mad Woman, and relating to a lot of it, was therapeutic in a way, and also encouraging. I felt less alone, like someone else out there understands some of the feelings I have that are hard to talk about.
This was my first experience with one of Kat Savage’s books, but thankfully I bought two others (Redamancy and Throes), and I’m very much looking forward to reading those, and eventually more of her work.
Kat Savage's Mad Woman is a journalistic introspection of a woman's soul. A promenintly feminist view on worldly expectations vs. whom she truly is. Granted, many of these events appear autobiographical, and some events are truly genuine. I give her kudos for displaying the courage of sharing stories of her childhood.
Looking at it from an aesthetic standpoint, there wasn't much that stood out to me. Prose poetry can be morphed into seemingly anything, in this case a journal. Much was explained in full detail and left little to the imagination for me.
I did feel that Lonely Matresses and Gasoline Dreams, If your faith is in a building, burn it down, and Everything Leaves provided the best metaphoric images in the collection. I enjoyed the estrangement from the dogmatic establishments in If your faith. It allowed the poetic narrator to explore the 'reality' of life, and could even serve as a prelude to the entire collection. In Lonely Matresses, seeing the imprint upon the mattress can allude to her own struggles with weight and how she wishes to 'cleanse the palette' of former lovers in the most viscous of flames.
Overall, my subjective opinion deems it OK, but many other reviewers enjoy it, and that's pretty much the beauty in writing, isn't it?
