This book is about how to beat the pack in that most important 1L year, then how to continue at the top. Instead of covering the law itself (that's what law school is for), The 4.0 Law Student talks about which classes to take, how to brief cases and create outlines, how to study for finals, what extra-curricular activities to choose, how to pick a career track, and all sorts of other helpful tips for starting and ending at the top.

The book is roughly divided into three parts (1) Summary information about law school, (2) "How To" sections for particular law school tasks, and (3) appendices containing actual examples of briefs and outlines.

The summary information discusses what law school is and is not. Various career tracks are listed, and for each you will be given specific suggestions on how to shape your tenure at law school. What you should and should not do in classes, and what extra-curricular activities you should seek out, is discussed in detail.

The "How To" sections cover how to think like a lawyer, how and why to brief cases, how to outline, how to write papers, how to study for classes, how to take a final, and how to study for the bar. At that point, the text proper ends.

The appendices contain example briefs and outlines. There are several example case briefs--both full length and book briefs. Three outline excerpts show several approaches to outlining.
